The Professional:

 

Kenya Smyth is a senior at Denver School of the Arts and majors in Advanced Theatre. She's been apart of the program since her freshman year and has been exposed to the teachings of Stanislavski, Hagen, and Grotowski as well as a number of playwrights such as Noel Coward, Oscar Wilde, Arthur Miller, and Tennessee Williams. She also has learned a variety of skills such as dialects, improv, playwriting, clowning, costume design, set design, lighting design, acting on camera, stage combat, voice, movement, directing, trapeze and more. She has worked with a number of professionals including Tim Grant, Alan Osburn, Candy Brown, and Allison Watrous.

Kenya has also done some film work including The Pet Swindle directed by Phil Mirabeto, commercial work including "Relentless Dedication" for Quadrid Productions and a promotional video for Community at Converge, and television including The History Channel's United Stats of America. She hopes to one day move to Los Angeles and be involved in more film/television work.

 

 

The Personal:

 

Outside of Acting, Kenya enjoys a number of other artistic expressions, such as drawing, painting, guitar, piano, singing, writing, ukulele, and photography. She also enjoys sports and has been involved in softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. She enjoys spending time with friends and family and is extremely grateful to them for surrounding her in art her whole life and ultimately influencing the impact art has on her today.

 

 

Current projects: 

 

Kenya was recently accepted to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy where she will earn her BFA in acting at their New York Campus. She was also recently cast in Six Character's in Search of an Author as Mother. Currently, she is directing a one act play that will be preformed on December 10, 2015 at Denver School of the Arts. She is also currently taking trapeze classes at the Denver Center for Performing Arts.
